Tony KeelerI was born and educated in Gt. Yarmouth and trained in Fine Art at Leeds College of Art. My work has been shown both locally and nationally. For many years I was Head of Creative Arts at The Norfolk College, Kings Lynn. I continue my involvement in art education as a consultant with the University of Cambridge International Examinations.
The crow and raven feature in much of my work. Many refer to Scandinavian mythology which has strong roots in Anglo-Saxon and Viking Norfolk. Two ravens perched on the God King Odin's throne. Huginn (Mind) and Munnin (Memory). He would set them free each morning to traverse the world and bring back messages. These birds also have a much wider significance and feature in tales from ancient Japan and China. Sanzuwu, the red raven in Chinese mythology was responsible for the passage of the sun across the sky. His three legs symbolise Heaven, Earth, and Humanity. |
